Darren Andrade is a veteran of amateur and professional basketball circles having spent the last seven years covering the NBA. He was one of the first independent web-based writers to be accredited by the NBA after freelancing for various Internet sports sites in 2000. In 2001 Andrade joined upstart Hoopsworld as just the second company hire on a staff of three. There he covered the NBA as a writer and senior editor. In 2003 he was named executive editor and producer, co-founding Swish Magazine and appointed the lead in new business development. By the next year he had helped recruit and manage a staff of 20 writers across 12 different NBA cities.

In 2006 Andrade left Hoopsworld to join another upstart; SWAY Sports Media, once again covering the NBA, this time as writer and Editor-in-Chief. Since its inception SWAY Sports has become a reliable source for basketball news and commentary through the production of original sports content. Under that banner Andrade has produced a feature documentary, become a staple on radio and television, and created, a web site dedicated to providing total coverage of basketball and more.

Despite the many hats he has worn Andrade has never stopped covering sport and basketball as a full-time writer. Known for his dry wit and strong opinion, he has made over 500 guest appearances on radio and television networks across North America since 2004 including ESPN, Fox Sports, The Score, NBA TV, the FAN 590 and Sportsnet. He can be seen weekly on SUN TV’s The Grill Room and Raptors TV’s Full Court Press. Andrade is the co-host of Double Dribble, a debate style sports show also on Raptors TV.
